Description

In this thought-provoking sermon titled “What Defines You,” we delved into the profound topic of understanding how God sees us and how we perceive ourselves. Using Deuteronomy 6:1-9, 20-25 as our guiding scripture, we explored the incredible journey of the Israelites and the lessons we can draw from their experiences to shape our own identities today.

We uncovered the struggles of the Israelites to fully embrace their new identity as God’s chosen people after enduring centuries of enslavement in Egypt. These struggles mirror our own challenges in embracing our true identity in Christ, often hindered by our past mistakes and hardships.

The sermon journeyed through personal reflections that shed light on the common struggle of lacking confidence and focusing on challenges rather than trusting in God’s provision. We also delved into the powerful insights of Christian author Brennan Manning, who eloquently speaks on embracing our identity as beloved by God. Additionally, we revisited key biblical truths that reaffirm our identity as God’s cherished children.

Unlocking and embracing our identity as beloved by God liberates us from the shackles of shame and fear, empowering us to lead authentic and joy-filled lives in our Christian walk. The sermon concluded with a compelling call to action, urging the congregation to release past identities defined by failure and inadequacy, and to boldly claim their true identity in Christ as beloved children of God.

The inspiring sermon culminated in a heartfelt prayer, petitioning God to transform our minds to see ourselves as He sees us and to embolden us to live out our true identity as His beloved children, free from the chains of shame and fear.
